A New Benchmark for Radiology Education in Europe

A landmark step for shared radiology education across the NHS

East of England Imaging Academy in partnership with Rosenfield Health launched an all-in-one teaching files platform covering 13 NHS Trusts, currently live in 5 sites, making it the first-of-its-kind in Europe.

A Regional Vision Finally Becomes Real

For years, the idea of a shared, multi-trust teaching archive has hovered on the wish list of radiologists across Europe: a single place where training cases from multiple hospitals can sit side-by-side, properly curated and ready to support the next generation of radiologists. This year, that idea finally moved from discussion to reality.
Rosenfield Health, in collaboration with East of England (EoE) Imaging Academy, has delivered the largest teaching archive of its kind in Europe. Covering 13 NHS Trusts, with 5 already live, and fully integrated to 13 PACS systems (6 PACS providers), the project demonstrates vendor-neutral interoperability at scale.

How It Works

The platform is powered by Rosenfield Health’s vendor-neutral solution, iCode Teaching Files Solutions (TFS), with iCode Teaching and Clinical trial Export (TCE) providing at-source anonymisation. Together, they allow Trusts to seamlessly curate, upload and share cases while maintaining strict governance standards — fully compliant with RCR guidelines and regional data requirements.

Educators get a modern, unified workspace. Learners get real-world cases they’ve never had access to before. Trusts get a compliant, scalable system built for regional growth.

Why It Matters

A centralised archive of this scale shifts radiology education in 5 major ways:

  • A single platform where educators can create, manage and distribute teaching cases, with one-click export to PowerPoint or image formats.
  • Helps educators create FRCR-style exams, enabling them to prepare trainees for RCR assessments directly within the platform.
  • A richer learning experience for trainees, with progress tracking and access to diverse, real clinical material.
  • Built-in governance and RCR-compliant workflows, reducing manual burden and ensuring anonymisation and case preparation always meet national standards.
  • Stronger regional collaboration, enabling consistent training pathways and standardised assessment. EoE Imaging Academy works closely with regional universities and medical schools, supporting both undergraduate and postgraduate education, including reporting radiographers and other imaging professionals.

Where It Stands Today

EoE Imaging Academy serves approximately 6.2 million patients. Our iCode Radiology Teaching Files supports 573 imaging professionals across radiology and radiography. About 2,250 teaching studies have already been uploaded in just a few months. Currently deployed in 5 trusts and 8 more to go live — making it the largest of its kind teaching archive anywhere in Europe.

Every case is contributed by participating Trusts, anonymised at source through iCode TCE before entering the archive and accessible for educators, trainees and faculty across the East of England, fully compliant with RCR guidelines.

The platform also includes a full exam and assessment module, enabling structured training, benchmarking and skills development all in one place.

A European First

This project is not simply the largest of its kind in the UK — it is Europe’s first cross-trust, vendor-neutral teaching archive, all in one solution, fully compliant with RCR guidelines. It sets a new baseline for what collaborative radiology education can look like.

Shaping the Future

With the East of England network now live, the question is no longer whether a shared European teaching resource is achievable — but how fast the model will spread.
